Walnut Street Design

Project Description:

Connecting people to places! Taking a fresh look at Downtown Danville, through the exercise of development the Reimagining Downtown Danville Masterplan, some themes were identified like the need for creating a more pedestrian friendly downtown, promoting residential development, and creating a favorable environment for retail and other small business development. Walnut Street is a key corridor connecting Norton Center of the Arts, Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Centre College, and Constitution Square, to the amazing businesses and attractions in Downtown Danville, while accommodating some residences.  The Walnut Street Design will examine how Walnut Street plays a role in connecting people and places in Downtown Danville.

Timeline:

2025-2026
The initial redesign of Walnut Street will include a series of proposed design concepts, public input sessions and coordination of property owners with the City. 
The design phase will bring about options for improvements along Walnut Street. Public input will be requested following the initial design concepts are introduced to explore local impact.
