The Kentucky/Tennessee Section of the American Water Works Association (KY/TN AWWA) is pleased to announce that The City of Danville, Coldiron-Watkins Water Treatment Plant has been selected as the recipient of the Kentucky Medium Water Plant Operational Excellence Award. This award recognizes those utilities that have achieved excellence in their water plant operations.
To select a recipient to receive this award, a strong emphasis is placed on water quality, including a review of publicly available compliance records and verification that water utilities have no violations or impending trends that could indicate future non-compliance. In a confidential selection process, the KY/TN AWWA Honors & Awards Committee reviews preliminary data and a description of the utility operations, then visits the utility to review and discuss operations onsite. Areas of importance include maintenance and safety; security and emergency preparedness; staffing, including culture, professionalism, knowledge and tenacity; and innovative technology.
The award was presented during the KY/TN Water Professionals Conference held in Knoxville, TN on July 29, 2025.
