Smoke Free Ordinance

On April 28, 2008, the Danville City Commission adopted an ordinance prohibiting smoking in most public places and workplaces.

This ordinance also includes, but is not limited to, such places as:

  • Auction houses
  • Billiard and bingo halls
  • Bowling centers
  • Common areas/designated rooms of hotels and motels
  • Outdoor events where the public is gathered
  • Retail stores
  • Sports arenas and facilities

Amendments to Smoking Ordinance

Ordinance Number 1837 (PDF) - An Ordinance amending the existing ordinance pertaining to smoking in public places and places of employment so as to add definitions of alternative nicotine products, tobacco products, and vapor products and clarify their treatment in said ordinance.
